Here's a simple shawarma recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound boneless chicken, sliced or diced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1/2 cup hummus
- 1/2 cup tahini sauce
- Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles, for toppings
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix together the chicken, olive oil, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the marinated chicken until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
- Warm the pita breads in the oven or on a pan.
- Spread hummus on each pita bread.
- Spoon the cooked chicken onto the pita breads.
- Drizzle with tahini sauce.
- Add the desired toppings of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles.
- Roll up the pita breads, slice in half, and serve. Enjoy!
